Not the most common choice for stick-making, Elderberry is hard, straight and lightweight. When the bark is removed -(almost invariably it has to be at least shaved)- it reveals a nice yellow wood with regularly spaced nodes and irregular grooving.
This stick is long enough to be used as a staff but would not be suitable for a heavy user.
Guidelines for arriving at the optimum length for you are shown on our Choosing a Stick page.
